Belarus President Visits Eastern Russia and Meets With Putin

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has embarked on a working visit to eastern Russia. Russian media report that he will speak to his counterpart Vladimir Putin during the visit.

 

Lukashenko arrived in Blagoveshchensk on the Chinese border about 875 kilometres northwest of the port city of Vladivostok.

He and Putin will visit a cosmodrome, a launch site of the Russian space agency Roskosmos, north of Blagoveshchensk. The two will discuss, among other things, the fight in Ukraine and the consequences of Western sanctions against both countries.

Lukashenko will visit Vladivostok and an island south of the city on Wednesday.
