US President Joe Biden will visit Poland on Friday and Saturday. He spoke with, among others, his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda about the war in Ukraine.

That meeting is planned in Rzeszów, a city about 80 kilometres from the border with Ukraine.

Poland has a border of 500 kilometres with Ukraine and has already received at least 2 million refugees from that country. Since 1989, Poland and the US have had close ties, and after 1970, all US presidents have visited Poland at least once, except for Ronald Reagan.

Biden has been in Europe since Wednesday. He has attended NATO, G7 and EU summits in Brussels. It is Biden’s third trip to Europe since taking office in January 2021.
