In Britain, half a million people went off work on Wednesday. It is the largest strike in the country in ten years. The strikers demand, among other things, better wages.
Members of seven trade unions are taking part in the strike.
The impact can be felt in education and public transport, among other things. For example, many parents only found out on Wednesday mornings that their children could not attend school.
There is also dissatisfaction with government plans to impose a minimum service during strikes. A petition against the law has been signed more than 200,000 times.
