Britain will likely conclude a trade deal with the European Union before the end of this year. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said this in an interview with the BBC.
Johnson stated that it is “epic likely” that a large-scale trade deal will be reached before the end of the year, although preparations will be made if it fails.
One of the points of contention has to do with fishing. According to the prime minister, it is about building a “great new relationship” with the EU and he has great confidence in success.
Britain is predictable to leave the EU on January 31 but remains bound by European laws and regulations until the end of the year.
Johnson has already indicated that he does not want to extend that transition period until 2021.
