The number of new corona infections in Germany in the last 24 hours is again lower than that of the previous day.
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the German counterpart of the RIVM, reported 14,432 new cases on Tuesday.
On Monday, the RKI reported 16,362 new cases. Last week, Germany said record numbers of infections and deaths several times.
On Friday morning, no fewer than 29,875 new infections were reported by the RKI. In total, the coronavirus has now been diagnosed in 1,351,510 people in Germany.
In the past 24 hours, another 500 people died in the Federal Republic of Covid-19. That brings the total death toll in Germany to 22,475.
The German Federal government and states agreed on a much stricter lockdown on Sunday. It starts on Wednesday and lasts until January 10th.
During that period, many companies have to close their doors and schools must work also in principle close, Chancellor Angela Merkel announced.
