German racing driver Nico Hülkenberg still has no prospect of a seat with a Formula 1 team for next year.
Despite his spectacular performance on Sunday in the Grand Prix of the Eifel at the Nürburgring as a replacement for the sick Lance Stroll at Racing Point.
The 33-year-old Hülkenberg started twentieth and last and finished eighth, just behind Charles Leclerc in his Ferrari. “It was good publicity for myself, but in Formula 1 cockpit poker, performance doesn’t always play a role. I have to be patient”, said the German.
Hülkenberg lost his seat at Renault to Esteban Ocon at the end of last season.
He also filled in twice this year at Racing Point for the Mexican Sergio Pérez, who was not allowed to race due to an infection with the coronavirus.
Hülkenberg also made a good impression then; he finished seventh in the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix at Silverstone. “I am happy that I was able to contribute to the team again.”
