German laboratories have increased their weekly corona test capacity from 640,000 to 700,000 tests in seven days.
Branch organization for accredited medical laboratories ALM announced this on Tuesday.
The announcement by the ALM came after the German equivalent of the RIVM, the Robert Koch-Institut (RKI), broadened its recommendation for human testing on Friday.
The RKI now wants everyone with symptoms of pneumonia to be tested, regardless of whether someone has been in contact with a carrier of the new coronavirus.
According to ALM, 292,000 tests have been taken in Germany in the last week.
The previous week, there were still 268,000. The figures are based on a survey of 116 medical laboratories in Germany.
