Landslide at Illegal Mine in Indonesia Kills Six

Six people have died in a landslide that has buried workers at an illegal gold mine in Indonesia’s Central Kalimantan province.

Two miners survived the accident, said Rihel Magat, the local civil defence chief.

“We suspect that water sprayed by the workers digging in the mine caused the shaft to collapse,” he said. “It was a case of poor mining techniques.”

Fatal accidents often happen in mines in Indonesia.
