A gold nugget of more than 9 kilos has fetched 750,000 dollars at an auction. According to auction house Heritage Auctions, the so-called ‘Alaska Centennial Gold Nugget’ is the largest gold nugget ever found in the northern US state of Alaska.
The American auction house says the large gold nugget was discovered in 1998 near the town of Ruby.
The lucky finder was working there with a bulldozer. The gold nugget later ended up in a collector’s private collection. Unfortunately, it is unknown who the new owner is.
The object is believed to be one of the largest gold nuggets found in the Western Hemisphere. The famous ‘Boot of Cortez’ is bigger. That huge gold nugget was found in Mexico in 1989.
