The American cinema giant AMC will open its first hundred stores on August 20.
The country’s largest cinema chain hopes to have two-thirds of its more than 600 cinemas operational again before the US release of Christopher Nolan’s film Tenet on September 3.
Large cities of New York and Los Angeles have been left out for the time being, because authorities in the states of New York and California have not yet approved the reopening of movie houses.
Cinemas will open on the 20th in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Miami and Las Vegas.
As in the Netherlands, various safety measures are taken in cinemas, so that visitors can keep the necessary distance from each other. AMC also requires them and staff to wear face masks.
AMC closed all branches with the outbreak of the coronavirus in March.
Last week, the company announced in the past quarter 98 percent of sales had been lost. The cinema chain previously announced that it could not rule out bankruptcy.
