Sony Mobile is Investigating to Close in Turkey, Middle East and Africa. Sony Mobile confirmed last week that it is investigating the possibility of reducing its activities in Turkey, the Middle East and Africa.

That’s what Android Authority reports after Evan Blass already tweeted that he had heard such rumours.

Earlier this year Counterpoint Research reported that Chinese manufacturers in the past year many more smartphones sold in the Middle East and Africa.

It seems that Sony Mobile has become the victim of this and that the manufacturer is, therefore, considering leaving the regions concerned.

Also, disappointing sales of the Xperia line, which the company itself blames on slow improvements and a lack of innovation, seem to have played a factor in the decision. Sony also announced that they intended to focus their efforts primarily on the European market.

For the time being it is essential to emphasise that this does not necessarily mean that there will be layoffs or that Sony will withdraw from those regions, but it does not appear to be a healthy sign for those involved.
