The Japanese government has extended the state of emergency in Tokyo for a week after the Paralympic Games.

The organizing committee of the Paralympics already announced on Monday that no spectators would be allowed at the sports competitions due to corona. However, an exception may be made for school children.

The state of emergency has been extended from August 31 to September 12. As a result, the Paralympic Games will be held in Tokyo from August 24 to September 5.

Japan is still dealing with an increasing number of corona infections, and a state of emergency is therefore in place in several parts of the country.
