Why Republicans are Preparing a New Trump Campaign — Even Though They Don't Have To

Republican MP Jim Jordan refuses to cooperate with the US House of Representatives panel investigating the Capitol’s January 6, 2021 storming.

Jordan is one of former US President Donald Trump’s closest political allies.

“This request goes beyond the bounds of a legitimate investigation, violates fundamental constitutional principles and serves only to erode legislative norms further,” Jordan wrote in a letter to panel chairperson Democrat Bennie Thompson.

Jordan was summoned to appear before the committee last month.

With the storming of the Capitol, Trump supporters wanted to avoid confirming Joe Biden’s victory in the late 2020 presidential election. So the Democrat-dominated House of Representatives committee investigates the connection between the White House and the Trump supporters who attacked the Capitol.
