The western Ukrainian city of Lviv was hit by five rockets on Monday morning, Ukrainian authorities reported. It is not immediately clear whether there were casualties.
Emergency services have been dispatched, the mayor said.
A presidential adviser has condemned the attack. “Five powerful missile strikes simultaneously on the civilian infrastructure of old European Lviv,” he wrote on Twitter.
“The Russians continue to launch barbaric aerial attacks on Ukrainian cities, cynically declaring to the whole world their ‘right’ to kill Ukrainians.”
Lviv has been the target of attacks before, but less frequently than other cities. The city, not far from Poland’s border, has become a refuge for refugees. Because of the war, several countries have moved their embassies from Kyiv to safer Lviv.
