US Tests New Hypersonic Weapon That Flies Five Times Faster Than Sound: History Made

The United States has tested a new hypersonic weapon that flies five times faster than sound and can perform high-precision attacks.

The test took place off the US west coast in southern California, the US Air Force reports.

It is an AGM-183A Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW). The weapon was launched from a Boeing B-52H, a long-range heavy bomber.

“We are doing everything we can to make this groundbreaking weapon available for combat as soon as possible,” it said. According to the Air Force, “history has been made” with the test.

Russia previously stated that it had used the hypersonic missile ‘Kinschal’ in the conflict in Ukraine. The eight-meter-long rockets can fly extremely fast and high. They are, therefore, very difficult to intercept.
